OnePlus 6 will probably look exactly like THIS when it launches this summer

We now have a much better idea of what the hotly-anticipated OnePlus 6 will look like, thanks to a recent product announcement by the Chinese company Oppo.

The latter has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, Oppo R15.

This is an exciting development for OnePlus 6 fans, since the two companies have shared industrial designs in the past.

For instance, the Oppo R11 bears more than a passing resemblance to the OnePlus 5, and the OnePlus 5T is almost identical to the Oppo R11S.

OnePlus is an entirely separate company from Oppo.

However, the Chinese smartphone startup does have a common investor with Oppo and is therefore able to access certain aspects of its supply chain.

Earlier rumours around the OnePlus 6 suggest the smartphone will have an expansive edge-to-edge display, with a 19:9 aspect ratio.

The , like the iPhone X.

The rounded cut-out in the otherwise all-screen design is typically used to house the front-facing camera, speaker grill, ambient light and proximity sensor.

Apple was criticised for its notch design when it launched the all-new £999 iPhone X last September.

However, following the launch of the new iPhone, a series of popular Android manufacturers have launched very similar industrial designs.

Little else is known about the OnePlus 6 at this point.

However, the Oppo R15 could offer some insight into what to expect from the latest from OnePlus.

The former boasts a 6.28-inch, 2280 x 1080 OLED panel with razor-thin bezels and a 3,450mAh battery.

Oppo R15 has a dual 12-megapixel and five-megapixel camera system on the rear of the phone, as well as a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The R15 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, running Android 8.1 Oreo.

OnePlus 6 will vary from this spec sheet, since co-founder Pete Lau has already .

Lau revealed the OnePlus 6 chipset during an interview with CNET during the Consumer Electronics Show, back in January.

The of the new smartphone, which is confirmed to be late Q2 2018.

OnePlus’ second financial quarter runs from April 1st to June 30th.

A series of hinted the next-generation OnePlus handset will boast some serious grunt.

If the leaked AnTuTu benchmark scores are accurate, OnePlus 6 could be faster than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S9.

Since OnePlus has already rolled-out Android 8.0 Oreo to its current smartphone line-up, it’s safe to assume OnePlus 6 will ship with at least Android 8.0.
