Fortnite update – Blitz mode LTM now LIVE on PS4, Xbox One and Mobile – here’s how it work

Fortnite players can now try out a new LTM, the mode for PS4, Xbox One, Fortnite Mobile, PCs and Macs.

The official Fortnite Twitter account tweeted around 2.30pm GMT to say the new LTM for Battle Royale had gone live.

They tweeted: “Swift storms and lots of loot. Blitz Limited Time Mode available now!”

The latest LTM for Fortnite was part of update V3.3, which was rolled out by Epic Games last Thursday.

Epic Games revealed more details on the Fortnite Blitz mode in the patch notes for the latest update, outlined in an official blog post.

Fortnite’s week long Blitz mode is designed around shorter, more intense matches.

Matches will start with the storm circle already closing in on the island, so there’s no time to waste.

Likewise, fans will only have a maximum of 15 minutes to complete games.

In order to encourage speedier play, Epic Games has also tweaked the item spawn rates.

To start with, Epic Games is increasing the chances of receiving treasure chests in Fortnite Battle Royale from 50-70 per cent to 80-90 per cent.

Ammo boxes are also more likely to spawn in Fortnite Blitz, while Floor Loot spawns nearly 100% of the time.

The time between Supply Drop spawns has been lessened alongside descent time.

The likelihood of Launchpad spawns have been increased, harvesting resources doubled and resources in loot is increased from 30 to 100.

Treasure chest health has been increased from 200 to 500, while ammo box health has more than doubled.

The Fortnite limited time Blitz mode will be the first LTM that Fortnite Mobile fans are able to take part in.

Sign-up for Fortnite Mobile on iOS started last Monday, with download codes sent last week by Epic Games.

The Fortnite Mobile version is set to add more numbers to the game’s already huge player base.

And as Fortnite has surged in popularity, fans have been the target of hack attacks.

In recent weeks Fortnite fans have reported on social media that their accounts have been taken over.

Many players have said they’ve been hit with high charges for games while others have paid for items they never bought themselves.

Fortnite developer Epic Games have said that they’re aware of the cyber attacks on fans and are looking into it.

The Cary-based developer have also advised Battle Royale and Fortnite Save The World fans on how to stay safe online.

In a blog post, the Fortnite makers said: “At Epic, we’ve been working hard to try to hunt down password dumps in order to proactively reset passwords for player accounts when we believe they are leaked online.

“While this approach involves a lot of manual work on our side, we believe that it prevents a significant amount of fraud.

“However, this approach doesn’t find every impacted account, or you might have created your Epic account after we checked a particular password dump.

“As a result, we’re working to further automate our process to check our account database against password dumps to close the gap on identifying impacted users and resetting their passwords.

“We’ve also enabled multi-factor authentication, which provides players with additional security options.

“The process to enable multi-factor authentication is described in greater detail further down in this article.”
