Nintendo Switch games shock as new Pokemon news is revealed

More Nintendo Switch games have been announced for this year, strengthening the overall lineup.

Fans can look forward to the release of a new Super Smash Bros game this year, which will include favourite characters from across Nintendo’s franchises.

We already know that series staples like Mario and Link are both included, while the Inklings from Splatoon have also been confirmed.

The Super Smash Bros announcement was part of a recent Nintendo Direct, where a mixture of both first and third party games were shown off.

And it’s not the only one that fans can look forward to this month.

Nintendo have announced that they will be holding a Nindies event, which will focus on new indie games coming to the console.

As the label suggests, it will focus on titles coming from smaller developers, although that doesn’t mean there won’t be any exciting reveals.

The last Nindie stream included popular projects like Travis Strikes Again, Shovel Knight: King of Cards and Super Meat Boy Forever.

Fans were also hopeful that another Nintendo Direct event could be held soon, only this one would have a specific title as its focus.

It was hoped that the Pokemon Switch RPG release could be next for the Direct treatment, following the big announcements we just got for Super Smash Bros.

This latest rumour didn’t come from an online source or rumour, but was instead based on new evidence found by fans.

It all stems from Nintendo updating their official Direct webpages.

The online Direct archive for previous broadcasts now has an empty spot, which suggests something new is being cooked up.

This is what has been seen in the past when Nintendo have been working on a new announcement.

And what made fans think it may have something to do with the upcoming Pokemon RPG is that a previous Pokemon Direct broadcast had been removed from the page.

As noted above, there are no reports currently indicating that Nintendo are planning a new mainstream Direct event before E3 2018.

It’s worth taking this latest information with a pinch of salt for now, although there is precedent for Nintendo following a big Direct, with another, smaller event.

And this could explain the recently announced Nindie event, and how it will fit in with recent Nintendo broadcasts.

Fans have been waiting a long time to find out more about the upcoming Pokemon RPG, and when it might be released.

A late launch in 2018 is still possible, although there’s also the chance that Nintendo could push back launch until early 2019.

A recent job listing confirmed that the Pokemon Company are looking for a Video Game Editor to focus on game text, as well as strategy guides, manuals and press releases.

The position offers a two year fixed-term contract, so if it is connected to the new Pokemon Switch project, it makes it sound like things are moving along nicely.

Nintendo themselves will be keen to see Pokemon launch in the holiday period of 2018.

Notwithstanding Super Smash Bros, a new Pokemon game on Nintendo Switch will almost certainly help push console sales.

And with the company hoping to top how they did in 2017, there wouldn’t be a better way of doing it.

If no new Nintendo Direct is confirmed for Pokemon before June, than E3 2018 will be the next date we can expect an announcement.
