Attorney General Jeff Sessions made the announcement just before 10pm local time (2am GMT) and stated that “Mr McCabe had made an unauthorised disclosure to the news media and lacked candor — including under oath — on multiple occasions”.
Mr Sessions added that he had “terminated the employment” of Mr McCabe that was “effective immediately”.
