Kate Middleton: Will royal baby be a prince or a princess? They will be called THIS

The royal baby of Kate Middleton, 36, and Prince William, 35, will be given a title, just like siblings Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2.

But what title will the child be given? Once born the child will be fifth in line to the British throne.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte are, respectively, prince and princess by royal blood.

This is because they are the legitimate children of Prince William, who is in the royal line through being the Queen’s grandson.

It is therefore the case that Prince William and Kate’s third child, when he or she is born, will have the title of prince or princess.

A number of others in the royal blood line also hold the prince or princess title, including Princess Beatrice, 29, and Princess Eugenie, 27, who is engaged to Jack Brooksbank, 31.

However it is possible the child may gain further titles in later life, in addition to the prince or princess title.

For instance, Prince William also holds the title of Duke of Cambridge, while Kate is known as the Duchess of Cambridge.

It is also possible the child may gain the king or queen title one day in the future.

However, given that he or she will only be fifth in line to the Crown, this is unlikely to happen.

The future child will come behind Prince Charles, 69, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte in the order of succession.

Whomever he or she marries in the future may also gain a title of prince or princess through marriage.

As it is hotly speculated at the moment, what gender will the royal baby be? Does Kate Middleton’s baby bump reveal if she’s having a boy or a girl?

The 36-year-old mother-of-two has been spotted out and about, when all eyes have been on the brunette’s growing baby bump.

The Mail Online speculated that Kate is expecting a girl, thanks to a similarity in the shapes of her baby bumps.

The site claims Kate’s bump is “high and wide” like it was when she was pregnant with Charlotte, but claims her bump was lower when carrying George.
