Indian Wells: Hyeon Chung’s coach lifts the lid on preparing to face Roger Federer

The South Korea will come up against Federer for the second time this year in the quarter-finals at Indian Wells.

Chung was forced to withdraw from their first clash injured in the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

But he now has the chance to exact revenge – which would also strip the world No 1 of his top ranking.

And in the build up the to the match, which gets underway at 2am, Neville has revealed that Chung has been working on the physical aspect of his game.

“Physicality is obviously a massive part of Hyeon’s game,” Godwin told the New York Times.

“It’s definitely something we have to make sure we maintain and keep working on and staying on top of.

“Twenty-one is still pretty young in the tennis world, and he wants to play 10 or 15 years, so we have make sure physical blocks are put in place.

“The younger you can put the right protocols in place, the better you’ll be going forward.”

Meanwhile, Chung’s agent Stuart Duguid revealed what Chung is doing to rectify the blisters he obtained at the previous Grand Slam.

“He’s obviously working on the whole body, including the feet, which need to be shaved down every other day with the calluses,” he said.
