Kingdom Hearts 3 release news following Final Fantasy 7 Remake Nintendo Switch boost

Square Enix are continuing work on two of their most anticipated games which may, or may not arrive in 2018.

While the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date has been announced for this year, we still don’t have a solid launch window.

And while there’s been a few snippets of new information shared by Square Enix, fans are still waiting for the big news drop.

Until then, new rumours have surfaced regarding one of the new worlds that will feature in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Fans may be surprised to hear that a new realm being planned for inclusion is based on The Jungle Book.

This will reportedly include Mowgli as a playable party member alongside Baloo, while there will also be a boss battle, featuring Kaa the Snake.

New Kingdom Hearts 3 details will be shared in April, which will include a trailer featuring the Jungle Book content.

The rumour also suggests that Simba from The Lion King will be a summon, which also suggests that more content from the Disney film could also be featured.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that there are still more unrevealed worlds for Kingdom Hearts 3.

Nomura-san said: “There are still more unrevealed worlds, before adding “There is one world that is distinct from the others.”

As always, it’s worth taking this latest rumour with a big pinch of salt, as there’s no way to verify it completely at this time.

For fans hoping the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will get a Nintendo Switch port, there’s been some interesting news on the subject.

The Nintendo Switch recently celebrated its first birthday, and in that time it’s already received big support from Square Enix.

The Japanese gaming giants have already released games such as I Am Sestina, Lost Sphear and Dragon Quest Builders for the hybrid console.

Square Enix are also releasing Dragon Quest XI for the Switch this year, and Project Octopath Traveler and The World Ends With You: Final Remix also in the works.

With the Switch selling so well in its native Japan (as well as around the world), plenty of Japanese developers are flocking to Nintendo’s hit console.

And Square Enix’s president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda has said there are “a lot” of people at the Japanese gaming giant looking to make games for the Switch.

He said: “They (our eShop titles) haven’t done badly! Obviously it only came out last March, so it hasn’t been long, but of all the publishers who are working on Switch we’ve done quite a few things.

“It’s a very attractive platform – there are a lot of people within the company that are looking to make games for Switch.”

While Matsuda-san didn’t mention the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Nintendo Switch fans will surely be holding out hope the FF7 revival makes its way to their console.
