To buy this phone SIM-free you’ll need a hefty £869 in your bank account and things get even more expensive if you opt for a monthly contract through a mobile operator.

Express.co.uk has taken a look at some of the best deals and here’s the true cost of owning Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ revealed.

Let’s start with that SIM-free price.

Samsung is currently offering the S9+ for £869 but that doesn’t include any minutes, texts or data.

It’s likely that if you’re owing a flagship, such as this new Galaxy, you’re going to want a fully-loaded SIM plan which will cost at least £10 per month – this will include 4GB of data and unlimited calls/texts.

The total cost for the S9+ and a SIM at £10 per month over two years is £1109.

If it’s a contract you want there are a number of options.

To get one of the lowest costs over two years you’ll need to pay an upfront fee of £460.

There’s then 24 payments of £23 per month with a total price of £1012 over the two year contract.

If you don’t want to pay upfront for the S9+ it’s going to cost you some serious cash over time.

One of the cheapest deals with a FREE phone includes a monthly fee of £66.

The total over two years for this deal is a whopping £1584, making it one of the most expensive ways to own this phone.

One of the most popular deals meets somewhere in the middle with a £250 upfront fee and then £37 per month with the total coming out at £1138.

There is one other way to reduce the price of the Galaxy S9+ and that’s through Samsung’s trade-in programme.

This allows owners of older devices to hand them over and get a reduced price plus Samsung is currently offering zero per cent finance on the outstanding balance.

For example, Samsung is currently offering over £200 for old Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7 smartphones.

This means you can own the S9+ for around £26 per month SIM-free.

It’s worth noting that this deal runs out at 11.59pm tonight and you can find full details here.
