Cheating wife: What is micro cheating? How to tell the signs if YOUR partner is doing it

Is your husband and wife cheating? It may be they are engaging in a form of betrayal known as micro cheating.

Even if your partner is not one of suspected one in five people who have kissed or slept with someone else, their cheating may take this newly coined form.

Micro cheating is defined by “seemingly small actions” that suggest a person is “emotionally or physically focussed” on someone other than their partner, said Melanie Schilling, a relationship expert.

It doesn’t have to mean the physical act of cheating, but rather the smaller acts which can express this focus on someone else.

This can occur both in your everyday life and in your online life, for instance via social media or your work email.

“You might be engaging in micro-cheating if you secretly connect with another man or woman on social media,” Melanie told Huffpost.

It can also include things such as “if you share private jokes; if you downplay the seriousness of your relationship to another man or woman; or if you enter their name under a code in your phone,” she said.

“Other things you should look out for are if your partner is having private conversations or online chats that he or she quickly shuts down when you enter the room.”

Does micro cheating spell the end of your relationship? Not necessarily, said Melanie – it could simply be an opportunity to rewrite your relationship “rules”.

“If this is an unconscious habit your partner has developed over time, due to previous partners allowing it, then you have the opportunity to put your foot down and set some new rules,” she said.

However, she did say if your partner is “actively choosing to micro cheat” and refuses to make any changes, it may spell trouble.

Is your partner micro cheating in other ways not listed here? There are many different ways to do it.

In fact, you are your partner is probably micro cheating right now, at least according to a long list of micro cheating signs by writer Melanie Berliet.

Sending a woman a link to an article about sex is also a form of micro-cheating, as is going out of his way to tell a woman he met that she seems to be “doing well”.

Texting “good morning” to someone just to say good morning is also classed as micro-cheating, according to the writer.

While these misdeamenors might seem silly and innocuous, there are things on the list that would make any sane woman feel a twinge of doubt.
