WWE Smackdown: Daniel Bryan could make EPIC WrestleMania return

Bryan was forced to retire from in-ring competition two years ago after a series of concussions took a huge toll on his health.

But the publisher and editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer pointed out that WWE have an option of getting the ex-WWE Champion in the WrestleMania card as a referee.

Meltzer said: “Daniel Bryan may end up at WrestleMania as a referee for all we know. I mean, he’s not banned from refereeing and he did referee a match in Chicago a couple months ago.

“There are things he’s allowed to do.”

The on-screen Smackdown General Manager is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time as he has an enormous fanbase, created one of the most popular chants and went on to win two world titles.

The fans pushed Bryan to the main event of Wrestlemania 30 four years ago, despite management’s persistence to keep him in the midcard, and the bearded superstar beat Randy Orton as well as Batista for the WWE title.

The ex-Intercontinental Champion has been involved in the feud between Shane McMahon and the duo of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

The Ring of Honour (ROH) legend returned to the ring as a ref alongside McMahon to officiate a controversial tag team match featuring Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against Shinsuke Nakamura and Orton at Clash of Champions.

Following Owens and Zayn’s brutal attack on McMahon, Bryan could get himself back on WrestleMania’s stage.

KO and Zayn are expected to face each other at the Showcase of the Immortals, but their fight could be changed into a Triple Threat Match with Bryan as the Special Guest Referee.

Rumours suggest The Leader of the YES Movement is desperate to return to in-ring competition and has been cleared by his personal physicians.

WWE doctors, however, have not given him the go-ahead and so the ex-US Champion could take off after his contract expires to wrestle somewhere else.
