Star Wars 8: Intimate Rey and Kylo Ren moment compared to a ‘sex scene’ by director

The film-maker was joking during a panel discussion that the part in which Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) touch fingers was about as intimate as it gets in the Star Wars universe.

“To me, that’s one of my favourite shots in the movie – those two fingers touching,” he said.

“It’s the closest thing we’ll get to a sex scene in a Star Wars movie.”

As the audience laughed, Mark Hamill – who plays Luke Skywalker – added: “I didn’t even get that.

“I would have loved to have touched a finger!”

Twitter user @SeducedbyKylo, who shared the clip, said the session was held following a documentary screening at SXSW.

Ridley was recently seen opening up on the future for Rey and Kylo, after the former was seen trying to redeem the latter in Episode 8.

Speaking in a Facebook Live video for the official Star Wars page, she disagreed that her character’s habit of seeing the best in people is to her detriment.

“I don’t think so, because I think he [Kylo] is redeemable,” she insisted. “There is a moment where is redeemable.”

Referring to the shock death of Snoke (Andy Serkis), she went on: “He does the right thing for a moment even though the right thing is a terrible thing in the grand scheme of things – to kill another person.

“He does the right thing just then in order to help her – and I’m not saying what he does is right, but he does think what he’s doing is the right thing. He’s not like, ‘oh, I’m so evil.’”

The Last Jedi is out on DVD and Blu-ray on April 9.
