Epic Games Mobile reveal: Fortnite download won’t include this mode

Battle Royale fans are getting a massive new update in 2018 that’s surely going to prove very popular.

Not only will Fortnite Mobile be launching on iOS and Android, but it will also boast cross-play and shared progression across linked accounts.

There’s been a lot of good news for everyone who is into the popular Battle Royale mode, however, not everyone will be catered for.

Epic Games have confirmed that they will not be able to bring every aspect of Fortnite to Mobile.

The Save the World PvE mode is still in active development at Bluehole Inc., even with the massive success of Battle Royale mode.

However, while Epic Games have managed to put together a new Fortnite Mobile game for BR, they haven’t done the same for Save the World.

The reason behind this is pretty clear cut; the PvE game mode is just too much for Mobile devices to run.

“Save the World uses way more memory and CPU resources than Battle Royale and would be very difficult to bring to mobile devices,” Epic Games explains.

So maybe in the future when mobile phones can pack more power we might see more games live Save the World launch, but right now that isn’t going to happen.

The development have also confirmed other news about the new Battle Royale game that might interest fans.

For one thing, Fortnite Mobile players will not be forced to play on other platforms.

This will be entirely optional for players who want to team up with others, with touchscreen players likely to face a bigger challenge against controllers.

“Mobile players are matched against mobile players only, Epic Games adds.

“When a mobile player joins a squad with friends on other platforms, then that squad is matchmade against a multiplatform population. Thus, cross platform play is opt in.”

For those Fortnite players who do want to play on other platforms, voice chat will be very important.

Luckily for them, Epic Games have confirmed that Voice Chat will be available for Mobile, although not at launch.

Fans will have to wait a little while for this feature to roll out, along with a few others.

Bluetooth controllers will also be made compatible with Fortnite on Mobile, although there’s no current release date for this feature.

The first Fortnite Mobile servers are likely to go live by the weekend, so fans waiting for an invite should get a big update on what the new platform is like to play on.
