Cheltenham 2018 tips: Sky Sports presenter Alex Hammond reveals who YOU must back

Cheltenham gets underway this afternoon amid weather chaos but there will still be chances for punters to make plenty of cash.

The festival is under threat from the rain and snow of last month and the going could be the heaviest this century.

But the top horses should still show their class over the jumps when the time comes.

Some horses have been pulled out by trainers worried about the conditions and Altior is an injury doubt.

Nicky Henderson revealed his top thoroughbred is struggling and will be monitored through the day ahead of the Champion Chase on Wednesday.

And Alex Hammond of Sky Sports revealed her day one tips for each race

Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – Getabird

Arkle Chase – Footpad

Ultima Handicap Chase – Vintage Clouds

Champion Hurdle – Buveur D’Air

Mares’ Hurdle – Apple’s Jade (nap)

National Hunt Chase – Rathvinden

Novices’ Handicap Chase – Livelovelaugh

The action gets underway today with the first race going off at 1.30pm.

Getabird ridden by Ruby Walsh is the big favourite while Express Sport tipster Patrick Weaver fancies Kalashnikov to make an impact.

The big race of the day is the Champion Hurdle at 3.30pm and you’ll struggle to find anyone going against Buveur D’Air, in the hunt for his 10th straight win.

Willie Mullins has four horses involved though with Wicklow Brave, Melon, Faugheen and Yorkhill and they could look to cause an upset.
