Battle Royale fans have been given their first look at what the future holds.
The Fortnite Mobile Sign Up pages are now live and to celebrate, Epic Games have released a new trailer.
This provided a quick glimpse at some in-game footage, captured on iPhone X.
In it, it was easy to see the usual gameplay that’s found on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
That’s a great sign for Fortnite players hoping to use their mobile phone to carry on playing when outside their home.
As mentioned above, this footage is from the iOS version of the game, with more to be revealed about Android at a later date.
“New invites will roll out as the servers can handle more players,” Epic explained in a recent blog post.
“Thanks for your patience! We expect to rollout Android in the next few months.
“If you are on an Android device, please sign up by clicking the button above. We’ll notify you when your Android device is supported.”
One of the main differences that can be spotted straight away is the touchscreen controls, which featured a lot of screen-display buttons.
This is likely to help speed up building defences during a firefight, although only time will tell how effective this will prove.
Epic Games have confirmed that Bluetooth controller support is coming later, with no release date or other details confirmed.
Chat Support is also coming to Fortnite Mobile, although that could be a little further down the road in 2018,
Fans are eager to find out as much as possible about the new iOS launch, before invites start being sent out in big streams.
Epic Games say they are sending out invites as their services scale up to handle more players with the goal of maintaining a healthy player population.
It should be noted that not everyone will get in at the same time, with email notifications the first step toward downloading the game.
The only restrictions after that will be having an internet connection, and iOS 11 on iPhone 6S/SE. iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, iPod Pro and later.
Email invites will only be for the Battle Royale version of the game, with Epic Games revealing that it’s not currently possible to release Save the World on Mobile.
“Save the World uses way more memory and CPU resources than Battle Royale and would be very difficult to bring to mobile devices,” a message from Epic Games explains.
More news is likely to be announced in the days ahead as Epic Games looks to start launching Fortnite Mobile onto live servers.
The rollout will be gradual, although there’s still a big chance for server issues early on.
This weekend seems like the most likely time that a good group of players will get their chance to try out the game in full.
Epic Games is also opening up their new Battle Royale mode so that fans can enjoy cross-play with other platforms.
This will mean that in the future, fans on different platforms will be able to party up and join each other’s games in the future.
It should be noted that while all platforms will have access to cross-platform, it won’t be available directly between PS4 and Xbox One.
