Victory for Rangers today would see Graeme Murty’s men cut Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to just three points.

This is the third Old Firm derby of the season, with Celtic having secured a 2-0 win at Ibrox in September, while both sides played out a goalless draw in their last meeting in December,

Graeme Murty’s men have won their last four games to pile the pressure on Celtic, who have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s league form of late has been patchy but they remain the favourites with the bookies for their trip across Glasgow this afternoon.

There was absolutely no need for it because the ball was heading straight out of play.

It’s a pretty routine punt forward but the finish is magic as Dembele outmuscles Cardoso before floating it over the onrushing Foderingham.

Hoops level before the break. This second-half is going to be spectacular.

44: Rangers under the cosh. A scrappy passage results in Tavernier just about poking it away from the lurking Ajer.

Booked. Goss brings Tierney down from behind and Celtic have themselves a very threatening free-kick on the stroke of half-time…

42: McGregor does well to wriggle into space, but again Foderingham is equal to the low rasping drive.

39: Save! Dembele is alert from a well-worked corner and rises highest to sting the palms of Foderingham. Celtic piling on the pressure towards the break.

36: Danger! Celtic have themselves a corner just outside shooting range. This one’s going into the box… behind for a corner. Bruno Alves wasn’t taking the risk. It comes to nothing.

25: Should be 1-2. Rangers fail to clear a corner from the right and the ball falls kindly for Simunovic, who lashes over. Certainly a defender’s finish…

22: Declan John embarks on a run forward before making himself a few yards and pinging one miles over the bar. Great build-up play, not so much with the finish.

19: Bain has a confidence booster as he races out to gather Tavernier’s cross.

Boyata, who’s not played much recently, continues to struggle. He nearly gifts the ball to Rangers when put under pressure by Morelos. He’s rusty.

16: The visitors can sense weakness here at Ibrox. That equaliser paired with the injury to Bates has stifled Rangers. Just struggling to find that early intensity again.

13: Double blow for Rangers. Not only has Rogic netted, but David Bates inured himself when trying a last-ditch tackle to stop him.

The Australian international marauds forward before curling a beauty into the top left-hand corner.

7: Referee William Collum has been pretty lenient there when deciding against booking John for a wild challenge on Forrest. I don’t mind that, providing he’s consistent obviously.

2: Dedryck Boyata as gifted Rangers the opener. I told you Celtic looked rattled.

The defender has all the time in the world to lay a routine throw-in back to go his goalkeeper, but he decides to be cute instead with a little turn that Windass anticipated.

The forward nicks it off his toes and rifles it into the roof of the net. Cracking finish.

1: Rangers straight into the ascendency. Celtic look a little overwhelmed with how quickly the hosts have started.

11:58: OK folks, it’s set to be a colossal clash at Ibrox. Rangers could breathe life into this title race with victory today. Three points would see them move to within three points of Celtic. We’re almost underway.

‘IT’S ABOUT BELIEF’

11:50: Speaking ahead of today’s match, Ibrox manager Graeme Murty said: “I’ve said to the players it’s about belief today – they have the talent, they have the intensity, can they keep believing?

“We’ve got to respect their threat, we respect their players and they will be up for it as well. I’ve said all along that we need to have a complete performance today.”

‘PRESSURE ON RANGERS’

11:45: Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers believes the pressure is firmly on Rangers today.

The Northern Irishman has not lost in eight matches against the Light Blues since he took over at Parkhead in 2016 and has won three out of three in Govan.

Celtic sit six points clear of their old rivals at the top of the Premiership with a game in hand, as they look to secure their second successive domestic treble.

“There’s huge pressure on Rangers in the game but for us, we’ll have a good working week and go into that game and work as well as well can,” Rodgers said.

“They’ve got a bit more spirit, from what I see, and they’ve probably found a consistency, but they’ve played without pressure for most of my time up here so they’ll feel this little bit of pressure in the game because it’s a game they have to win.

“We want to win it, of course, the same as every game we play, and especially against our rivals.”
