Denim has come a long way from it’s origins as a hard-wearing fabric for manual workers.

These days, you’d be hard pressed to find a single wardrobe that doesn’t contain a pair of jeans.

Of course, it’s not just jeans these days – from jackets and jumpsuits to feminine dresses, there’s something to suit everyone.

And of course, there’s several different cuts and styles to suit every body shape, from fitted skinny styles to wide leg flares.

Denim needn’t be just for a casual event.

Embellished jeans such as these from Brand Attic are perfect if you’re looking for a way to update the style for evenings.

Team with a simple oversized white shirt and heels for a chic take on the trend.

This season sees the return of dark denim.

In deep shades of navy and royal blue, the fabric is also reimagined in different shapes for a more tailored look.

Denim dresses are a stylish alternative to jeans for summer, as seen on many celebrities including Holly Willoughby when they want a smart yet casual outfit.

For relaxed cool in chambray, jumpsuits are a great way to swap out denim jeans for your weekend wardrobe.

For denim traditionalists, there are a wealth of jeans brand that specialise solely in shapely denim styles.

If you have a style of jeans that you prefer, it may be worth swapping your high street style for a pair of specialist brand jeans.

Brands such as Joe’s Jeans, Frame, Paige and J Brand are pricier options but will wear for longer and are less likely to lose their shape over time.

This season’s key jean shape is the straight leg, replacing the much loved skinny. Joe’s raw edge hem style with turn up is the perfect casual style.
