Nintendo Switch games UPDATE: Major Pokemon 2018 news coming soon?

Fans have noticed a few new changes made by the Japanese games giant which could mean another big announcement is coming soon.

Fans just got a lot of new information through a recent Direct streaming event, and it appears more news could be on the way.

Nintendo Switch games news concerning the upcoming Pokemon RPG release could be next for the Direct treatment.

This latest rumour doesn’t come from an online source or rumour, but is instead based on new evidence found by fans.

It all stems from Nintendo updating their official Direct webpages.

The online Direct archive for previous broadcast now has a new empty spot, which suggests something new is being cooked up.

This is what has been seen in the past when Nintendo have been working on a new announcement.

What makes fans think it may have something to do with the upcoming Pokemon RPG is that a previous Pokemon Direct broadcast has been removed from the page.

Resetera User Galava and Pokefan are the ones who has been gathering the details and sharing it online.

“I’ve done some digging around, and a similar situation has happened before.

“Pokemon Direct that revealed Sun and Moon was removed on 10th May 2017, a month later a new Pokemon Direct happened on 6th June 2017, showcasing Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon and Pokken port.

“This could indicate a Pokemon Direct is coming in the near future.”

As noted above, there are no reports currently indicating that Nintendo are planning a new Direct event before E3 2018.

It’s worth taking this latest information with a pinch of salt for now, although there is precedent for Nintendo to follow a big Direct, with another, smaller event.

There were hopes that the latest Direct would include news about the new Pokemon RPG.

However, the only Pocket Monster-related announcements was for the 3DS release of Detective Pikachu, scheduled for later this month.

The latest rumours surrounding the new Pokemon game is that developers Game Freak could be working on a reboot for the series.

An alleged insider on Twitter by the name of ‘Chinese Riddler’, has posted about Pokemon Switch being a ‘reboot’ before shortly afterwards deleting the tweet.

However, Jynx Club managed to screen grab the tweet and posted a picture of Chinese Riddler’s information.

Alongside the screen grab, Jynx Club said: “Chinese Riddler openly posted that the Pokemon Switch title will be a reboot of the franchise. However, the thread is quickly deleted.”

Responding to a fan asking why the source should be trusted, Jynx Club added: “The Chinese Riddler probably got the most stuff correctly out of all leakers in Pokemon’s history.”

What Chinese Riddler meant by a “reboot” remains to be seen.

Does this mean that Pokemon Switch could be going back to its roots, and be set in the Kanto region of Game Boy originals Red and Blue?
