Lionel Messi and Jose Mourinho battle: Barcelona and Man Utd men want transfer – claims

Kluivert has emerged as one of Europe’s most promising prospects after rising through the youth ranks at Ajax.

And his performances at the Johan Cruyff Arena have attracted plenty of admiring glances from scouts of top clubs.

It seems Kluivert, who’s recently been called up to the Holland senior side for the first time, has not just turned the heads of talent spotters though.

And the latest reports in Spain suggest two of the biggest names in world football are keen for their clubs to sign him.

According to Don Balon, Messi has taken note of Kluivert’s emergence at Ajax.

And he’s convinced the 18-year-old would be a great asset for Barcelona to have.

Kluivert could operate on the wing or up front at the Nou Camp, as his father Patrick did.

But Barcelona will face a battle to get Kluivert on-board if Mourinho has his way.

The United gaffer has received plenty of positive reports about the Ajax starlet.

And they have apparently led him to conclude Kluivert is the man to bolster his attack.

Whether Messi and Mourinho will have Barcelona and United scrap it out remains to be seen.

Kluivert has recently spoken about claims Messi has told Barcelona to swoop for him.

“I’ve heard that as well,” he told FourFourTwo. “But I really don’t know if it’s true.

“I’m not in contact with Messi. Only he knows whether that happened, but it’s nice to hear.”
