Fortnite Mobile UPDATE: Epic Games confirms Battle Royale for iOS and Android

The new Battle Royale App for phones was announced today, along with some other big news.

Fortnite Mobile will look to provide the same level of gameplay currently found on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

This will include players playing on the same map, and getting the Weekly updates.

This suggests that the Fortnite update Battle Pass will also be available on this version of the game.

Starting Monday, you can sign-up for the Invite Event on iOS, while support for Android will be coming in the next few months.

Epic Games also announced a sort of exclusive for PS4 fans, with Sony providing cross-play with a lot of different platforms, excluding Xbox One.

“In partnership with our friends at Sony, Fortnite Battle Royale will support Cross Play and Cross Progression between PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS and eventually Android,” the Epic message explains.

“This means players across devices can squad up with friends and play together.

“On phones and tablets, Fortnite is the same 100-player game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.

“Same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates.

“We believe this is the future of games. The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want.”

As mentioned above, a new Fortnite Mobile iOS invite event is being held, with sign ups starting next week.

“Starting Monday, March 12, sign-up at www.Fortnite.com for the Invite Event on iOS. Email invites will start rolling out soon thereafter.

“When you are invited, you will receive an email with a link to download the game from the App Store.

“If you don’t receive an invite right away, don’t worry. We’ll be adding more players regularly over the coming months.

“Players who receive invites from Epic will also get friend invite codes to share with others. To participate, you will need an internet connection and iOS 11 on at least an iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 devices.”

While no clear release date has been given, it appears Fortnite for Mobile devices will start rolling out in March.

Unfortunately, it sounds like Android owners may have to wait until around June, before they can join in on the action.

It’s unclear if this new version of Fortnite will launch with all the current loot, or whether players will have to wait for it to catch-up.
