Are the Fortnite servers down today?

Players hoping for a quick bout of today have been met with server downtime and failed login attempts.

In response to the unresponsive servers, angry gamers have approached the development teams behind Fortnite, asking questions and demanding immediate answers.

One Twitter user, Obey Mario, tweeted: “How long until the servers come back up?”

Another person, Ramon Gutierrez, asked the developers: “When are we able to play?”

But as panic and confusion sweep through the gaming community, the good news is that the severe downtime is part of performance upgrade rolled out for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Epic Games have taken down the servers today as part of the so-called ‘Downtime’ for the Fortnite 3.2 upgrade.

Announcing the server downtime, Epic Games said: “Downtime has begun for v3.2! Waiting got you down? Patch Notes ought to cheer you up!”

When will the Forntie servers be back up again?

Though the developers are yet to announce when the serves will be back up and running, server downtime typically only lasts about two to three hours.

Downtime officialy kicked off today at 9am GMT (4am ET), hinting that the servers could be running again from around midday.

Epic Games said: “Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.”

And there is ample reason to wait out the sever blackout, because the developers have prepared several exiting new features in patch 3.2.

The new update promises “bigger teams, bigger battles” in a 20-man Victory Royale battle mode and a new Limited Time mode.

The developers teased: “Introducing patch v3.2, the battle royale gets bigger with the latest LTM and hotter with the newest skin, Burnout.

“We’ve honed in on performance and quality of life changes, addressing many of the minor issues that have surfaced from the last few patches.

“We’ve seen your colossal Hoverboard courses and are blown away by the effort put into them.

“We want to see more, and are going to keep expanding the feature by adding more tools to play with! Lift off with Boost Pads, Save the World’s newest item that accelerates the Hoverboard.”

Other updates include ironed out bugs and glitches and a raft of new anti-cheat protection measures for PC players.

Xbox One players in Brazil are also excited to know their country has now been added to the Matchmaking Region selector.

The update also includes some exciting new skins, a new hero in the Event store and Hoverboard Boost pads to speed up you hoverboards.
