As Galaxy S8 owners wait for Android Oreo, Samsung looks set to reveal next big update

After months of waiting some owners are finally getting access to Android Oreo.

The update appears to be rolling out across Europe, although some users in the UK are still complaining that Oreo is not available on their smartphones.

Samsung had to delay pushing out Oreo after a bug was discovered which forced the S8 to reboot unexpectedly.

The Oreo release is now back on track although anyone who has purchased the S8 on contract probably won’t see the update until April.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, an industry insider revealed that networks are only just beginning their tests on this software and these trials could take up to four weeks to complete.

Although this is bad news for some owning a Galaxy S8, there might be some good news on the horizon for anyone owning a Galaxy Note 8.

Reports are surfacing which suggest Oreo will be coming to Samsung’s phablet very soon.

According to XDAdevelopers, Oreo has now been officially certified by Google and has been released onto a US mobile network’s servers.

This means a Note 8 version of Oreo could get a global release in the coming months although there’s currently no official word from Samsung on when it will arrive on devices.

The news pf Samsung’s Oreo update comes as Google has just announced the release of its next big operating system.

The US technology giant has teased , currently codenamed P, which will soon be released to developers.

One of the headline features in Android P is the in-built support for notch-style displays, like the iPhone X.

Google has included a number of pre-set notches to house the sensors at the top of the edge-to-edge display.

The developer preview will enable app creators to test how their software performs on displays with this design quirk.
