Nintendo Direct March 2018 Predictions: Pokemon Switch, Metroid Prime 4, Super Mario DLC?

There’s plenty of games that could be included in this week’s big live-streaming event.

The Nintendo Direct March 2018 news only confirms that Mario Tennis Aces will be featured, along with other titles for the Switch and 3DS handhelds.

The new event will last around 30 minutes and contain information focused on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS games launching this year.

It will be on quite late in the UK, kicking off around 10pm, GMT, meaning an easier time of tuning in for those in the United States.

So now we know that Nintendo will be looking to cover Nintendo Switch gaming coming in 2018, what could we see?

POKEMON

A new Pokemon RPG has already been announced as coming to the Nintendo Switch.

This game has apparently been in development for some time and will likely be one of the biggest launches yet for the new console.

Fans are hoping to see a trailer, or maybe even a release date announced soon, or during E3 2018.

It should be noted, however, that Nintendo have not confirmed this game for this year.

There’s reports that Nintendo are aiming for a late 2018 release, although this could get pushed till early 2019.

METROID PRIME 4

While this seems like it should be front and centre for anyone new big reveal, it’s unlikely to feature tomorrow.

As this Nintendo Direct is focusing on 2018 games, Metroid Prime 4 will probably skipped.

The new Samus adventure is expected to arrive in 2019, so there won’t be much incentive to show it now.

Metroid Prime 4 is probably being saved for the big expo in June, although there’s always the chance of a big surprise.

SUPER MARIO DLC

Super Mario Odyssey was a big hit and it’s expected that new single-player content for the game will be revealed at some point.

This will be paid-for and probably in the same vein as we saw with Zelda Breath of the Wild.

It seems like a good chance we could see something at least shown during the Nintendo Direct event, with new content likely coming later this year.

SOUL CALIBUR 6

While not confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, Bandai Namco are open to porting this over to the new console.

There are already reports that it will be made a Switch game, although it’s unclear if the project will be ready for launch in 2018.

New third-party announcements are always welcome, although more could be being saved for existing projects.

OTHERS

Super Smash Bros. will return at some point, although there’s nothing suggesting an announcement is imminent.

Wolfenstein 2 has already been announced for launch and this would be a great time for Nintendo and Bethesda to show how the port is coming along.

Yoshi for Nintendo Switch is bound to get some screen time, and will likely have its official title confirmed too.

Detective Pikachu details should be forthcoming before the game’s launch, so expect some coverage tomorrow.

Nintendo Labo is another item that could get some screen-time, with new kits and trailers likely to be shown.
