Fortnite update – New Jetpack details emerge ahead of Battle Royale patch release date

players will soon be getting the new Jetpack item, which is heading to in an upcoming update.

It appears the Fortnite Jetpack was originally planned to be released last week, but got delayed due to a “last minute design issue”.

Instead, the Hunting Rifle was released alongside last week’s Fortnite patch V.3.1.0.

It’s unclear when the jetpack will now launch, but fans will surely be hoping it gets released this week on the typical Fortnite update day of Thursday.

Ahead of the Fortnite jetpack release, fans have been given more details about what to expect from the item.

Storm Shield One (via FortniteIntel) have been looking closely at the files found within Fortnite patch V.3.1.0.

And they have speculated on a number of things the jetpack could bring to the table in Fortnite.

They claimed that the Fortnite jetpack will use fuel, and is not something that can be used indefinitely.

They said it will require refuelling to continue using it – however, the way it gets refuelled is unclear.

Fortnite players may need to pick up a certain item to recharge the jetpack or it may regenerate over time.

Game files found within Fortnite’s latest update also suggest that the jetpack will have a hover mode, which presumably will help it use less fuel.

It’s also been claimed that the Fortnite jetpack will be the main item in an upcoming Limited Time Mode called Take To The Skies.

However, Storm Shield One said this is the ONLY game mode that would have jetpacks on the loot tables.

This would mean that jetpacks would only be available in LTMs and not in regular playlists – a move that may disappoint fans.

As always with rumours, it’s best to take them with a pinch of salt until there’s official confirmation.

Last week Epic Games posted on the official Fortnite Reddit page to say the launch of the Jetpack had been delayed.

The Fortnite team said: “This week’s new item is being changed from the Jetpack to the Hunting Rifle.

“We found a last minute design issue with the Jetpack that’s going to delay its launch and we’re working on correcting it.

“The Jetpack will lift off at a later time.

“Meanwhile, you’ll be able to enjoy lots of no-scopes with the new Hunting Rifle item and a new, lucky point of interest on the map.”

The news came days after Fortnite players logging into Battle Royale would have noticed that the Jetpack item was being teased for .

Not much at the time was known about it, apart from the design and that it would let players “take the fight to all new heights”.
