Alicia Vikander SLAMS ‘less boobs, more fighting’ Tomb Raider remake: Guess why

The world is eagerly embracing a new wave of female-led action movies.

Tomb raider’s Lara Croft has undergone a major transformation in the source computer games, but her pop culture image is still linked to the sexually provocative original look, complete with exaggerated breasts.

Even with the new costume direction, the actress still had to enhance her cleavage. She told Vogue: “What little I have I kind of pushed up.”

Vikander’s co-star Domic West proudly proclaimed that the action blockbuster is “less boobs, more fighting” but the leading lady herself had another very feminist gripe, even more controversial than a push-up bra.

The Oscar-winner spilled all on The One Show.

Vikander was being interviewed by Alex Jones, who pointed out that the movie may have a non-sexualised leading lady, but there were few others to be seen.

In fact the “less boobs’ comment could also disappointingly apply to the glaring lack of any other strong female characters at all in the movie, at a time when Hollywood is finally starting to redress the balance elsewhere.

Wonder Woman featured a female lead and actual armies full of warrior women, while the latest Star Wars movie upset some fanboys because it featured so many strong women – and rather fewer strong men.

So what went wrong with Tomb Raider?

Jones told Vikander she was “slightly disappointed” at the movie’s lack of major female characters “bar two minor roles”.

Vikander replied: “I got to work with Kristin Scott Thomas and she is an extraordinary actress, but me too, yeah, I agree. I was wondering on this island, ‘There is not enough women, where are they?’ I was running around looking for them!”
