Gary Neville launches scathing attack on Chelsea after Man City defeat

That is according to pundit and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville.

The Blues have been criticised for their lacklustre showing at the Etihad Stadium, as they were comfortably beaten by Pep Guardiola’s men on Sunday afternoon.

City now sit 18 points clear at the top of the Premier League and have one hand firmly on the title.

Meanwhile, the defending champions are facing an uphill battle just to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

And Neville was less than pleased with Chelsea’s poor outing at the weekend.

“I think Chelsea have given us an unacceptable 90 minutes there,” he said on the Gary Neville Podcast.

“Yes, you want to come to Manchester City and make sure you’re compact to stop Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva. You want to make you leave the ball to the centre backs and the full backs – and they did all that.

“In terms of the approach, it wasn’t bad – it was the lack of intent and passing of the performance which was so passive that made it difficult to watch.

“I’m not sure how the game just drifted, drifted, drifted for 90 minutes with no reaction from the sidelines.

“Even the Manchester City fans inside the stadium wouldn’t have liked that match.

“They’ll be going home thinking Chelsea were terrible – it was a stroll.”

Pressure is now growing on Conte, with many believing he will leave England at the end of the season.

Chelsea take on Crystal Palace this Saturday.
