Oscars 2018: Get Out set for Best Picture SHOCK win after Spirit Awards?

The most prized gong at tonight’s Academy Awards has to be the Best Picture Oscar.

Indy horror Get Out is behind at 5/1, but having won Best Picture at the Spirit Awards, a ceremony dedicated to independent filmmakers, it’s now in with a greater chance.

While neither Three Billboards or The Shape of Water were nominated, the Spirit Awards’ Best Picture winner has been the same as the Oscar for the last four years.

Moonlight, yet another independent film, had won the biggest prize, despite being the underdog with odds as low as 18/1.

The drama followed fellow joint Best Picture Oscar and Spirit Award winners Spotlight (2016), Birdman (2015) and 12 Years A Slave (2014).

Now considering the odds for Get Out at 5/1 – surely it’s now possible that the race-themed horror could snatch the Best Picture gong?

Three Billboards may have won the Best Film BAFTA this year, but so did La La Land in 2017.

The 90th Academy Awards take place this evening in Los Angeles.
