Real Madrid news: Cristiano Ronaldo becomes fastest ever to reach HUGE La Liga milestone

The Portuguese forward jinked into space before firing a fine left-footed finish into the bottom corner in the first-half at the Santiago Bernabeu.

That not only put Real Madrid 2-0 up on the night, following Gareth Bale’s opener, but allowed the No 7 to reach the 300-goal milestone in just 286th appearances.

Astonishingly, Ronaldo is also the fastest ever man to reach the landmark – even beating Lionel Messi – and managing a phenomenal average of 1.05 goals per game since arriving in Spain in 2009.

His Barcelona rival achieved the same feat in his 334th Spanish league game back in February 2016 and now stands at 372 goals in 408 matches.

Ronaldo also follows in the footsteps of Messi in becoming the fourth player in the history of Europe’s top five leagues to score over 300 top-flight goals for one club.

Ronaldo joins Messi, former Bayern Munich striker Gerd Muller and Everton’s Dixie Dean in doing so.

The 33-year-old’s strike against Getafe was his 22nd in just 14 La Liga meetings with Real’s neighbours.

But remarkably, they are not the side he has scored most against. He has 25 goals in just 15 league meetings with Sevilla, including five of his 33 hat-tricks.

In spite of doubts about his abilities as he reaches the twilight of his career, Ronaldo is enjoying his best ever start to a calendar year for Real Madrid and has now scored 13 goals in his last eight games.

He has 426 goals in 435 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish giants and will hope to add to that tally as they look to help ease some pressure on Zinedine Zidane by guiding them into the Champions League quarter-finals.

They face Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their last-16 tie in Paris on Tuesday, leading 3-1 with Ronaldo having managed a brace.
