Arsene Wenger: Why Arsenal must announce departure NOW – Jan Aage Fjortoft

That is according to pundit and former Middlesbrough striker Jan Aage Fjortoft.

Back-to-back 3-0 defeats at the hands of Manchester City has heaped more pressure on Wenger in recent days.

The Gunners faithful are once again calling for the Frenchman to leave the club.

However, the Arsenal boss has continuously refused to resign of his own accord.

But according to Fjortoft, now is the time for the club to announce Wenger’s departure for the end of the season.

“Dear Arsenal and mister Wenger!” he wrote on Twitter.

“Please sit down and agree how you end your partnership.

“Please go public now and say Wenger will leave after the season.

“Then the Arsenal-fans can use the remaining games to praise a man that has done SO much for the club.”

But the former striker wasn’t finished there.

Fjortoft also slammed the Arsenal’s players, telling them to ‘stop hiding’ behind Wenger.

“Dear Arsenal- players,” he continued.

“Stop hiding behind Wenger’s skirt.

“Some of your body language is embarrassing.

“Some of your mistakes are diabolical unbelievable.

“Remember! When Wenger has gone there is no more excuses.”

Arsenal travel to Brighton on Sunday afternoon.
