31: What?! I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Rochdale have sent their 5,000 travelling fans into ecstasy.

Stephen Humphrys has scored a cracker after beating the offside trap, nicking the ball away from the onrushing Vorm and slamming it home from an acute angle.

No VAR required. Thank goodness.

TOTTENHAM 1-0 ROCHDALE

29: This is completely bonkers. I’ve never seen a more bizarre and ridiculos first half in my life.

Son nets the penalty but staggers in his run up. Referee Tierney books the winger and doesn’t allow him to retake the spot-kick. No goal.

PENALTY TO SPURS

26: I don’t like VAR folks.

Trippier is brought down by Done just outside the area and referee Tierney gives a foul.

Hold on… it’s a penalty! VAR took about three minutes but they decided that the foul was inside the area. It’s tight.

TOTTENHAM 1-0 ROCHDALE – SON

23: No complaints about that one, it’s an absolute banger from Son.

The winger cuts inside before guiding the ball into the far corner with a signature finish.

Floodgates to open?

21: Penalty appeal! It’s a bad one and VAR gets it correct. Moura goes down rather theatrically and the decision goes against him.

19: It’s almost like Spurs are still in shock from the disallowed goal. They are right to be annoyed, it should have been a goal, but they need to pick themselves up.

18: Great run from Andy Cannon nearly sees the midfielder pull the trigger but Danny Rose recovers. Brilliant start here, Rochdale giving it a good go.

17: Snow update: It’s snowing. I should be doing the weather forecast with information like that. The under-soil heating should take care of it, but it could be tricky for fans getting home tonight.

14: Great play from the visitors. Camps leaves Winks red-faced with a delightful nutmeg before sending a low cross just beyond Henderson.

11: Just seen a few replays of the ‘foul’ from Fernando Llorente. There’s a small amount of contact, but it’s far from ‘clear and obvious.’

Former referee Chris Foy on BT Sport: “They feel Fernando Llorente has fouled the Rochdale defender. It is an interesting one and that will cause some debate for sure…”

8: Erik Lamela opens the scoring. Or does he?

Son reaches the byline and slams in a low delivery that the Rochdale goalkeeper pushes out to the Argentine, who converted from point-blank range.

It’s sent to VAR, who disallow the goal because of a Fernando Llorente foul in the build-up.

This VAR thing isn’t working for me. It’s worked quite nicely for Rochdale though…

5: Son Heung-min runs at Rochdale but his pass is booted for a corner, which is cleared. Spurs looking sharp in the opening stages.

3: How’s the pitch then? There is a bit of a snow dotted around and the ball isn’t zipping around. Quite a few empty seats, but that was to be expected.

Mauricio Pochettino has questioned whether the proposed winter break would work successfully in England, saying the Premier League was completely different to other European leagues.

“I think that the Premier League is the Premier League. It is different to other leagues. To keep the same dynamic is so important,” Pochettino said.

“I don’t know how it is going to work… In England you cannot stop playing on Boxing Day or in the New Year or in the Christmas period. I think this is the most beautiful period in England to play football.

“But in Spain, if you want to play in this period, the fans are not happy. It is cultural. Maybe in February it is going to happen. So okay, we will see if it is going to work but I’m not sure.”

*Spurs have won each of their last eight FA Cup replays, last being eliminated in 2007 to eventual winners Chelsea in the quarter-final stage.

*Rochdale have only taken a top-flight side to replay once in the FA Cup, drawing twice against Norwich in the 1976 third round, with Dale losing 2-1 in the second replay.

19:05: Swansea’s home FA Cup quarter-final meeting with either Tottenham or Rochdale will be televised and use video assistant referees (VAR), the Football Association has announced.

The Swans, who beat Sheffield Wednesday in a replay yesterday, will on Saturday, March 17 host the winner of tonight’s Wembley rematch between Spurs and League One club Rochdale.

VAR will also be used on the same date at Old Trafford, where Manchester United host Brighton, and at Leicester when the Foxes challenge last year’s finalists Chelsea on March 18.

Southampton visit Wigan, who eliminated Manchester City in the last round, in the other Sunday fixture, in which VAR will not be used.

It’s far from a weak team with Danny Rose, Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min and Erik Lamela all in the starting XI.

Rochdale stick with the samde eleven who drew with Spurs 10 days ago.

17:30: So it’s all systems go at Wembley with the Tottenham vs Rochdale match surviving the elements.

In fact, the FA are so pleased with their staff that they decided to post a video of them leaving their warm office to grab shovels and clear the snow.

I’ll pause for a moment while you all sarcastically cheer and applaud…

The Wembley ground staff, fully equipped with shovels and highly-sophisticated under-soil heating (the latter being fractionally more effective), have removed all of the white stuff to reveal a beautiful playing surface.

13:30: Big news. Big, big news from on high.

Wembley Stadium has just officially confirmed that tonight’s match between Tottenham and Rochdale WILL take place.

They tweeted: “We can confirm that tonight’s game between @SpursOfficial and @officiallydale is still going ahead. #Spurs #EmiratesFACup.”

Looks like we’ve got a game of football on our hands folks!

Once again, I’m NOT a weather expert but I’m clued up enough to know that football pitches should usually be green.

We also love watching the news to see pictures of cars struggling in the snow and gritter trucks loading up with road salt. I’ve no idea why.

Spurs have released a statement of their own ahead of tonight’s clash.

It reads: “Following the earlier information detailing a proposed reduced service on Wednesday due to the forecast inclement weather, Greater Anglia have advised us that they are now seeking to run a full service on Wednesday night across both West Anglia and mainline routes.
