Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo fuming with Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane

The Spanish giants are enduring a bitterly disappointing campaign and went into last night’s showdown with Espanyol a whopping 14 points adrift of Barcelona.

Real failed to make up any ground on the La Liga leaders though after Gerardo Moreno’s 93rd-minute strike secured a a shock win for Espanyol.

Real’s hopes of bagging a major trophy this term lie in the Champions League, where Paris Saint-Germain are their last-16 opponents.

This season represents a far cry from that enjoyed by Real last year, when they secured a domestic and European double.

And Ronaldo, who sat out of last night’s defeat to Espanyol, has apparently pointed the finger at Perez and Zidane.

According to Diario Gol, Ronaldo is fuming about the transfer business Perez conducted last summer.

The likes of Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez and Pepe were all allowed to leave the Bernabeu.

And Ronaldo feels the arrivals of Jesus Vallejo, Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos were insufficient to replace them.

Perez is not alone in bearing the brunt of Ronaldo’s fury though.

Diario Gol indicate the Portuguese sees Zidane as a collaborator with the Real president.

Ronaldo is said to be desperate for Real to bolster their squad with players capable of stepping in for first-teamers.

And he’s citing this term’s failed experiment with young signings as evidence of what Real must avoid.
