Philippe Coutinho tells Barcelona team-mates Chelsea outcast David Luiz wants Barca move

Luiz returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2016 following a two-year spell with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

And he enjoyed a stellar first season back in west London, helping Chelsea win the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final.

Things have not gone so smoothly this term though and a rift with Antonio Conte, coupled with injuries, means he’s no longer a guaranteed starter.

The latest reports in Spain suggest Coutinho has got wind of his countryman’s unhappiness and desire to move on to pastures new.

According to transfer rumour specialists Don Balon, Coutinho has told fellow Barcelona stars that Luiz is eager to head to the Nou Camp.

And the centre-back is apparently so desperate to move that he’s willing to give up the remainder of his salary that Chelsea owe him.

Don Balon claim Luiz was offered to Barcelona throughout the January transfer window.

Despite their rejection then, Barcelona could supposedly move for the 30-year-old in the summer.

Ernesto Valverde is said be planning to loan out Yerry Mina, with a more experienced defender to replace him.

And Luiz’s chances of securing his desired switch are boosted by the fact he possesses a Portuguese passport.

That would allow Barcelona to keep the non-EU spot that they have earmarked in their squad for Arthur open.
