Overwatch Hero 27 has been given another major teaser by Blizzard.
The latest Overwatch character teaser showcases what appears to be another weapon design for the new hero.
The image features a design for a new shield, which seems like the perfect companion for the hammer that was revealed yesterday.
The tweet – which can be seen below – reads: “Last minute check! Everyone squared away?”
Interestingly, however, a cat’s tail can also be seen in the image, not to mention a design for a jetpack.
This hearkens back to last year’s reveal that a cat wearing a jetpack was once considered for Overwatch.
Express Online previously asked Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan if the cat could ever make its debut in the game, and the Overwatch director didn’t rule it out.
“In some ways by talking about the cat, I’m like, ‘do I really want to give up the cat idea?’ Because we might want to make that someday,” he said.
“These ideas exist because they were things that we loved in the first place. And we’re always happy to revisit.
“There are some heroes where we feel like, here’s a hero that could come out soon, and the game needs it, the story needs it and the gameplay is ready for it.
“That hero’s not going to happen anytime soon. That’s a someday if we’re lucky we’ll get to make that thing.”
The comments were made last year, which would have given Blizzard plenty of time to make the Jetpack Cat a reality.
Rumours of a new hero began when Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan responded to fans on the game’s official forums.
In a post titled ‘Can we have a hero 27 hint?’, Kaplan said: “Ok. Incoming. Brace for it…”
This was followed by a lengthy Twitter tease in which somebody called Emre Sarioglu was named alongside some familiar characters.
It’s all part of an action report for something called Operation White Dome. According to the mission report, Torbjorn received serious injuries during the mission, and was only spared death when Reinhardt intervened.
In a follow-up post, Blizzard posted a letter from Torbjorn to his wife Ingrid. The letter mentions Torbjorn’s then unborn daughter Brigitte, who was named by Reinhardt.
This has led to speculation that Torbjorn’s daughter will be the next new hero in Overwatch.
Others think it could be the aforementioned Emre Sarioglu, while names like Hammond and the Junker Queen have also been touted.
The general consensus, however, is that the new character is Torbjorn’s daughter, especially after Blizzard tweeted the picture of the hammer.
Given that both Reinhardt and Torbjorn both use hammer weapons, Brigitte seems like a given….
