Paramedics said the 22-year-old suffered severe injuries when she was attacked by the animal at a private lodge just north of the capital Johannesburg.
Bystanders administered CPR until emergency services arrived, but despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have launched an investigation into her death at the lodge in Hammanskraal, which is next to the sprawling Dinokeng Game Reserve.
