Fortnite update – Jetpack inbound, new patch release date, server status latest

fans are being teased about a new jetpack item that will soon be added to hit PS4, Xbox One and PC free-to-play mode Battle Royale.

Last week Epic Games rolled out the big season 3 update for Fortnite, which brought with it the new Battle Pass and tonnes of extra Battle Royale loot.

In total, Fortnite season 3 has 30 extra tiers of loot and the Battle Pass will take up to 150 hours for fans to complete.

Among the new items added to Fortnite include Save The World’s hoverboard and the new John Wick-style assassin outfit.

And players logging in this week will have noticed another addition for Fortnite Battle Royale that is being teased by Epic Games.

At the top of the update screen fans will see an entry for a new jetpack item which is “coming soon”.

Not much else is known, apart from the item’s design (with a picture posted on Imgur) and that it will let players “take the fight to all new heights”.

At the moment players are not sure if the legendary item will purely be for cosmetic purposes or have an actual in-game use.

If it’s the latter, the possibilities it opens up are huge – with new ways for players to escape from battles or launch aerial attacks.

It’s unclear when the Fortnite jetpack will be released, but Epic Games currently are readying a new patch that will get launched later this week.

Fortnite patch V.3.1.0 will bring with it Quest Map improvements, the second week of the Spring It On event and new event store items.

Epic Games in a post on the Fortnite Reddit page earlier this month said the Fortnite update is scheduled to launch on Wednesday February 28.

However, last week the Fortnite season 3 patch was also scheduled to launch on a Wednesday – before the release date was pushed back by a day.

It remains to be seen if a similar delay will take place with Fortnite patch V.3.1.0, and if there will be server downtime before its release.

Fans will also have to wait and see if Fortnite patch V.3.1.0 will get boosted with the inclusion of the upcoming jetpack item.

If the jetpack is arriving in the next Fortnite update, you can expect Epic Games to announce it today ahead of the patch’s rollout.

The news comes as Fortnite fans again were hit by widespread servers issues, with the hit PS4, Xbox One and PC game going down for thousands of gamers.

On Monday Fortnite went down for over two hours, with players having issues connecting to the game’s servers.

The issues have now been resolved, with the official Fortnite Twitter account posting yesterday: “Players can now log in but you may experience longer login times.

“Console players won’t see a queue timer, but don’t restart your game. Once the queue finishes, the game will launch.”

On the official Epic Games Status page though, it says Fortnite stats and leaderboards are currently suffering from a “degraded performance”.

All other services are “operational” though.
