PS4 news this week includes more the PS5 release date

The PS5 release date isn’t going to arrive until at least 2020.

That’s the latest prediction made on Sony replacing their successful PS4 and PS4 Pro line of consoles.

While there have been several ideas shared on the subject – some prediction news in 2018 – the latest says we still have a few years to wait.

NPD analyst Mat Piscatella has shared his own ideas on what’s going to happen with the PS5 release date.

He believes that Sony don’t need to launch a new console until 2020, although there’s always room to be surprised.

“2020 is what I have in my forecast,” he told Gamingbolt.

“The data suggest there’s no need to do it earlier. But I’ve been surprised before so I’m as interested in this as anyone.”

Piscatella also shared his thoughts on how well the PS4 will sell in the future, predicting another good year for PlayStation.

“Hardware units are mainly driven by content and pricing strategies,” he adds.

“I’m interested in seeing how the PS4’s price point changes over the year both in base price as well as in promotional pricing.

“I do expect the PS4 to have another great year of sales, but I do expect it to be down versus 2018.”

PS Plus subscribers will probably have to wait a little longer before they find out what new free games are going to be offered in March, as part of their subscription.

No leaks or teasers have been dropped to give a glimpse at what might be offered, with February 27th and beyond the possible dates for the official announcement.

Until then, those who have an active PlayStation Plus subscription may want to check out the new deals being offered.

The official PS Store currently has a lot of PlayStation VR games discounted, some offering up to 75% off.

There’s a long list of games available to those with a PS Plus subscription at a lower price, with some running until March 7.

The list of deals currently includes titles like Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Destiny 2 and Tekken 7.

There’s also a bunch of Fortnite deals going on for those who might want to check out the Save the World mode, or grab a Founder Pack.

It should be noted that the content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber.

The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber.

A new Battlefield game is being launched in 2018, with work already being done on the announcement footage.

The new game from DICE will arrive in October of this year and will likely see a new trailer shown in the months ahead.

Randy Evans of the studio recently confirmed that work on the new Battlefield 2018 reveal trailer is being done now.

Not much is known about the new Battlefield, although it does sound like EA are ready to change things up.

During a recent earnings call, EA showed interest in the Battle Royale genre.

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said that EA studios were thinking about new and innovative ways to play.

Speaking about PUBG, Wilson said: “I think what you discover in this industry is that there’s a lot of great vectors that drive player engagement, and one of those is just innovation in the core gameplay mechanic.

“What the team with PUBG have done is really delivered a new level of innovation that changed the way people were playing first-person shooter games.

“And we’re very respectful and complimentary of what they’ve been able to do. We’ve seen that continue with Fortnite. It’s clearly a mode of play that the global FPS population is interested in.”

Wilson said that EA’s Battlefield teams are looking at ways to innovate core gameplay and map design.

Wilson would also claim that Battlefield 5 has “astonishing visuals and gameplay”, before promising innovation at every level.

“Through FY19 and beyond, we are planning stunning new additions that will continue to grow the depth, breadth and quality of experiences we bring to fans around the world,” he said.

“Our DICE studio will deliver the next Battlefield, with innovation at every level, incredible stories at the core, astonishing visuals and gameplay that will captivate every Battlefield fan.”
