Pita Taufatofua in pictures: Tongan flag bearer wows at Winter Olympics ceremony

He first went viral after his appearance at the opening ceremony for the 2016 Summer Olympics oiled-up and shirtless.

Muscles bulging, Taufatofua was seen today bearing the flag for Tonga at the Winter Olympics 2018 closing ceremony

For his appearance at the 2018 closing ceremony, Taufatofua was dressed in an outfit and flowers for part of the ceremony.

Despite telling the media before the ceremony that he would not walk shirtless, he once again wore nothing but a ta’ovala mat wrapped around his waist.

Last week he completed the 15km freestyle race, coming in 114th place out of 119 skiers.

Born in Tonga and raised in Australia, 34-year-old Taufatofua is a taekwondo practitioner and skier. He holds an engineering degree and has worked as a model since the age of 18.
