Newlywed Brit dies 12 days after Grand Canyon helicopter crash kills three friends

The crash, which killed three other Britons, trapped Jon in the wreckage for eight hours while his bride Ellie Milward, 29, managed to stagger free.

She is currently in a critical condition and continues to fight for her life.

Tonight, a close friend of the couple confirmed the tragic news and set up a JustGiving page to ease financial stress for the couple’s families.

On the page, close friend Chris Tucker wrote: “It is with a very heavy heart that I must type this.

“Our good friend Jon Udall has succumbed to his injuries. He was strong, brave and I will never forget him.

“I will update this page when possible. Ellie is critical and is continuing to fight. Love, Chris.”

The newlyweds, who wed in front of friends and family just three months ago, were on the desert trip as part of their honeymoon.

In an unbelievable and ongoing tragedy, two “inseparable” brothers – Jason, 32, and Stuart Hill, 30 – as well as Stuart’s girlfriend Becky Dobson, 27, died instantly in Nevada desert.

Jason’s girlfriend Jenny Barham, 39, and American pilot Scott Booth, 42, continue to fight for their lives.

Traumatised witnesses watched in horror as the chopper plummeted 600ft into the rocky canyon and burst into flames.

Many claimed to hear a woman screaming “Jason” as the helicopter exploded.

The helicopter ride was booked by the six friends to celebrate the birthdays of Stuart and Ellie.

Last week, hundreds of people paid tribute to the victims in a memorial service in Worthing, West Sussex.

Seven candles were lit – three of which were purple (in memory of those who died) and four which were white (symbolising hope for the survivors in critical care).

The helicopter crashed on tribal land outside of the national park, where air tours are not highly regulated.

The cause of February 10th’s helicopter crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and preliminary findings are expected before the end of the month.

A full report will be issued following interviews with witnesses, survivors, the helicopter operator, the helicopter manufacturer, and others.
