Emre Sarioglu? Hammond? Blizzard drops MAJOR Overwatch hero 27 hint

developer Blizzard has seemingly teased the appearance of a brand new character.

Judging by a mysterious new post on the Overwatch Twitter page, hero 27 could be somebody named Emre Sarioglu.

The rumours began with Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan responding to fans on the game’s official forums.

In a post titled ‘Can we have a hero 27 hint?’, Kaplan said:” Ok. Incoming. Brace for it…”

This was followed by a lengthy Twitter tease in which the aforementioned Emre Sarioglu was named alongside some familiar characters.

It’s all part of an after action report for something called Operation “WHITE DOME”.

Strike team under the command of myself, CAPTAIN ANA AMARI, was deployed to the outskirts of Istanbul, Turkey to deal with a remaining pocket of omnic resistance,” the post reads.

“Personnel included Lieutenant Reinhardt Wilhelm, Chief Engineer Torbjorn Lindholm, and Private First Class Emre Sarioglu.”

According to the post, Torbjorn received serious injuries, and was saved by Reinhardt.

“After routine insertion, the team was ambushed, taking heavy fire from the entrenched omnics,” the post continues.

“While the team was able to overcome and neutralise all hostile combatants without casualties, the battle resulted in serious injuries to Lindholm and lesser injury to Lt. Wilhelm.

“Had it not been for Lt. Wilhelm’s timely intervention, it is likely that Lindholm would have been killed. Due to conspicuous bravery on the part of Lt. Wilhelm, I am suggesting a commendation for his actions.”

Overwatch fans are already speculating on the identity of the new hero, and whether or not it’s Emre Sarioglu.

Others believe it could be (see the gallery above for more on Hammond), and that the escaped gorilla was responsible for Torbjorn’s injuries.

Either way, we should find out soon. Maybe in time for the Uprising event.

The news comes as Blizzard gives Overwatch fans a way to .

Overwatch League skins are currently only available by spending money, and not through loot boxes.

However, a new Blizzard scheme now gives fans the chance to unlock team skins by watching Overwatch League matches on Twitch.
