Rainbow Six Siege new Operators: Who are they and can they play Outbreak?

Ubisoft are set to launch Year 3 content for their hit tactical shooter next month.

This will include the usual Rainbow Six Siege tweaks and changes, as well as a new mode and two new operators.

This is all coming in the Operation Chimera update, with some of its content already available to try out on PC test servers.

WHEN DOES OPERATION CHIMERA START?

The Rainbow Six Siege release date for the new Operators and Outbreak has been set for March 6.

As confirmed by Ubisoft, Operation Chimera introduces two new operators to the multiplayer roster, Lion and Finka, Elite members of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Threat Unit.

While not part of the existing Siege rosters, Lion and Finka represent French and Russian counter-terrorism units, respectively, as biohazard specialists.

CAN THESE NEW OPERATORS BE USED IN OUTBREAK MODE?

Along with traditional, competitive Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer matches, these new Operators will see their weapons and gadgets put into action in Outbreak.

The new four-week co-op event starts March 6th and will be available to play until April 3, 2018.

“In Outbreak, the first seasonal event for Rainbow Six Siege, players will choose their best team of three to enter the devastated town of Truth or Consequences and neutralise the threat,” Ubisoft teases.

“From exploding monstrosities to hulking horrors, the Rainbow Six team will face something never-seen before.

“These armoured monsters will bring the fight close and push the destruction engine to new heights.

“Players will have to find new ways of using their arsenal against a foe that doesn’t take cover and engages instantly in close combat.”

WHAT CAN THESE NEW RAINBOW SIX SIEGE OPERATORS DO?

Every Rainbow Six Siege operator has their own unique set of skills, which can be used when trying to either attack or defend with your team.

Unlike in the past Lion and Finka are uniquely suited to Outbreak, although players can use other Operators for that mode too.

FINKA LOADOUT:

UNIQUE ABILITY: Finka’s Adrenal Surge activates pre-injected nanobots made of zinc in operators, releasing a pharmacological cocktail into their system where the zinc is absorbed as a nutrient.
These nanites give her team a short boost in HP, they help allies out of DBNO, and they steady the team’s aim. She’s the only one capable of tailoring the nanites to specific operators.
WEAPONS AND GADGETS: Breach Charge, Stun Grenades, Spear .308, SASG-12, 6P41, PMM Pistol and GSH-18.ARMOUR AND SPEED: Both rated medium.

LION LOADOUT:

UNIQUE ABILITY: Twitch provided him with an aerial drone while he served with GIGN. The EE-ONE-D helps Lion maintain quarantine by detecting movement in an area, giving an overview of hot zones or of the battlefield. His drone can stay airborne indefinitely, but he must choose the right moment to perform his scans.

WEAPONS AND GADGETS: Claymore, Stun Grenade, V308, 417 Marksman Rifle, SG-CQB, P9 Pistol and LFP586.

ARMOUR AND SPEED: Both rated medium.

As stated above, the new Rainbow Six Siege Outbreak mode will be launching on March 6 with new content from Ubisoft.

The limited-time Outbreak event will be made available periodically throughout the Test Server phase, which has begun, allowing the development team time to improve and implement fixes as necessary.
