PUBG UPDATE: Servers going down for Battlegrounds patch bringing new PC loot and changes

Developers Bluehole Inc. have confirmed that they will be taking PUBG servers down tonight to make way for a new patch.

This latest maintenance period will mean that the Battlegrounds on PC will be offline for around three hours. This is due to start at around 2am GMT, or 6pm PST if your in the United States.

The new maintenance is to make way for a fresh PUBG update, which will add an array of new items and features.

This will include further optimisation being made to gameplay, as well as fixing several significant bugs.

For instance, Bluehole has decided to remove the view of the inside of the airplane, in a bid to improve the early game client and server performance.

Bluehole is also adding a new display to monitor remaining players when riding the plane.

Fans can also expect lots of bug fixes, while certain Miramar fences being changed to unbreakable walls.

The new Battlegrounds update also introduces two new loot crates that are packed with cosmetic items. Released to celebrate the start of spring, the FEVER crate and the MILITIA crate are being deployed today, along with the other changes.

The FEVER crate contains new items inspired by the fashion of the 1970s and 1980s. The MILITIA crate, meanwhile, introduces the Erangel resistance force outfit and the Miramar frontiersman outfit.

Bluehole also say they are working on a new matchmaking system which will divide the matching pool depending on ping.

“This means that the users with lower pings will be prioritized during matchmaking,” a message from Bluehole Inc explains.

“The team is expecting to improve the overall play experience by splitting the matching pool rather than restricting connection depending on ping.”
