The retired American General warned “time is running out” in the fight between Donald Trump and North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-un.
Speaking to Fox Business, Gen. Keane said all resources to North Korea should be “shut down” given nothing so far has stopped the rogue state’s dictator developing his nuclear programme.
Gen. Keane said: “Time is running out. The CIA Director has told us on Fox just a few weeks ago that he thinks North Korea will have the full objective capability, that is nuclearised ICBMs reaching the United States in a matter of months.
“If that’s the reality then we have got to be pulling out all the stops now in preparation for that event.
“They have used negotiations in the past to advance their technology, to promote some goodwill for themselves, including to drive a wedge between ourselves and South Korea.
“Yes they are going into negotiations but they are not going to stop developing that technology.
“I think this administration should talk to them. If there’s some decent condition that we are going to discuss denuclearisation and we’re going to get to something substantive then we should talk to them.
“Talking is better than shooting, certainly.”
American lawyer Jim Rickards also warned Donald Trump has very little time to act against the nuclear threat posed by North Korea.
Mr Rickards said that in a meeting he had with CIA director Mike Pompeo, it emerged that the threat of a nuclear war at the hands of Kim Jong-un was imminent.
He said: “I give a 70 percent probability to a US attack, what we’d call a preventive war that we started but we’re doing it to prevent existential threats to us, to the United States, before the end of March.
“Mike Pompeo said that it would be imprudent to assume that it would take North Korea more than five months to have the ability to threaten the United States.”
