Arsenal news: Henrikh Mkhitaryan addresses ‘issue’ of playing alongside Mesut Ozil

Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal in January from Manchester United in a swap deal which saw Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction.

The Armenia international got off to a flyer in north London, laying on three assists in the 5-1 win over Everton.

The former Borussia Dortmund man’s influence, however, has slowly faded and many have raised concerns about him and Mesut Ozil playing in the same team.

But Mkhitaryan has insisted this is not an issue and has revealed he is loving every second of playing alongside the Germany international.

“Some people are saying that we cannot play together but I cannot understand people who say that,” Mkhitaryan told ESPN.

“I’m just enjoying playing with Mesut, he’s an amazing footballer, I’m getting pleasure playing with him.

“Everyone knows his skills, his ability. Why not? [play together] Everything is possible – why not have two No 10s on the pitch?”

And it is not just Ozil that Mkhitaryan enjoys working with but also Arsene Wenger, who he claims was a major factor in his decision to join the Gunners.

“I’ve been watching Arsenal games many times in the past,” he added.

“Of course I was following the team when they were playing in the Premier League and the Champions League.

“I saw Arsene Wenger, how he was treating and working with the young talent, that was the drive and the small details that made me support Arsenal.

“I’m very happy to be here – it’s a dream come true.”
