Galaxy S8 price drop imminent? Samsung’s flagship could be bargain of 2018

will reveal its latest Galaxy S9 in just a few days time with it expected to bring a number of improvements over the current

Rumours suggest the S9 will get a new processor, better battery and refreshed design with a new position for the fingerprint scanner.

Samsung has also teased that its next generation camera will be getting a major boost.

In a recent statement the Korean firm said: “Imagine a camera that can see more than your eyes – one that can help you capture every moment and change the way you experience the world. Now imagine it’s part of the device you already use, every single day.

 “By taking a fresh perspective and exploring new frontiers, we’ve crafted a smartphone packed full of life-enriching features, transforming the common device into something that allows you to do what you can’t.

Samsung’s Unpacked event begins at 5pm GMT on Sunday but this launch could be good for anyone wanting to buy a Galaxy S8.

If previous years are anything to go by this current flagship could see its price slashed once the S9 hits stores.

Prices for the S8 have already been cut with Amazon currently selling it for £515.99 – that’s a discount of £174.

Contracts have also dropped with a recent deal seeing the S8 selling for as little as £23 per month.

And it’s not just new devices that could be cheaper with a recent study by MusicMagpie revealing that second hand values for the .

Liam Howley, marketing director at musicMagpie, said: “Our study has shown that it really does pay to not hold on to Samsung devices for too long, as they depreciate at lot faster.

“With the S9 launch just around the corner, consumers looking to upgrade to the S9 can get more money for their old device now rather than after.”

This could mean there will be some good deals to be found on pre-owned phones.

There’s no official word on what S8 deals will be available in the current months but, if you are thinking of buying this award-winning smartphone, it’s certainly worth waiting a few weeks to see what happens to prices.
