1. Geri Halliwell – Bag It Up (2000)

Geri was two years out of the Spice Girls when she took to the stage as a chart-topping solo artist, performing her fourth single – and third Number One – Bag It Up.

Her entrance involved a pair of giant legs parting – to reveal Geri and a crowd of topless male dancers in between them.

2. Madonna – Living For Love (2015)

Edna Mode in The Incredibles famously warned – “no capes!”

But the advice was lost on poor Madonna, who took a tumble soon after her performance of Living For Love began back in 2015. She styled it out like the pro she is.

4. Justin Timberlake and Kylie Minogue – Rapture (2003)

There was surprise when Timberlake invited Minogue on-stage for a performance in 2003. I

t was more than a little risque – Timberlake, one year before the notorious gaffe with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl – grabbed Minogue’s backside during the sing-song.

5. Michael Jackson – Earth Song (1996)

There were raised eyebrows when Jackson took to the stage to sing Earth Song – looking like a Christ-type figure amongst “poor” children.

But then things escalated further when Jarvis Cocker ran on-stage, too, as a form of protest.

6. Katy Perry – Chained To The Rhythm (2017)

It was only last year when Perry took to the stage as part of her comeback, surrounded by dancers dressed as actual houses.

Sadly, one of them tumbled off the stage – and the moment was shared widely on social media.

7. Rihanna – We Found Love (2012)

Rihanna performed her globe-conquering hit We Found Love for enthusiastic crowds, but in the mess of the staging, the cameras lost her towards the end.

As the coverage continues, Rihanna is nowhere to be seen, as the cameras seemingly can’t pick her out at all.

Kanye WestGETTY

Kanye West was heavily censored

8. Kanye West – All Day (2015)

There was controversy when Kanye was repeatedly muted by censors when he took to the stage in 2015.

This was due to the language in the track, and ITV later defended themselves saying: “We have operated a short time delay as standard practice for some years on the show, to allow us to mute language that may be inappropriate for that wide audience, and elected to do so in this case, given the performance took place shortly after the 9pm watershed.”
