Nintendo Switch games list in 2018 just got some great Dark Souls Remastered news

While many games managed to pass the Nintendo Switch console by in 2017, more and more projects are being announced for it.

This is probably down to the early success in sales, which continues to show a healthy market for portable gaming.

A fan-favourite announcement from earlier this year was the reveal of Dark Souls Remastered.

This Bandai Namco classic won’t be passing the Switch by, and will be launching alongside the PS4 and Xbox One versions later this year.

Not only has it been confirmed that the new Dark Souls project is coming to Switch, but it’s also being handled by a notable team.

The official Australian Classification rating for Dark Souls Remastered has revealed that  China-based studio Virtuos is involved in the project.

Virtuos may sound familiar to Switch fans as they were also involved in bringing L.A. Noire to the hybrid console.

As this debuted with some solid reviews and good feedback, it can mean great things for those looking forward to Dark Souls Remastered.

The Chinese company is working alongside From Software and Polish porting studio QLOC as part of the new Bandai Namco release.

The Dark Souls Remastered release date has been set for May 25 on the Nintendo Switch and will allow for up to 6 player-multiplayer, with dedicated servers.

According to Nintendo, the Remastered release will also include the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, as well as an improved frame-rate and resolution.

No gameplay has been shown yet for the new Dark Souls Remaster, although it seems likely we’ll see new footage soon.

There’s been no recent news concerning any hints of delays in development of the highly anticipated title, which could be just the start of things.

Rumours first surfaced about a possible Remaster project for the original Dark Souls game last year, and it wasn’t the only one.

The same rumour also suggested that Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 could also be ported over to the Nintendo Switch in the future.

While the second instalment in the series didn’t fare quite as well as the original, Dark Souls 3 proved very popular.

And now it appears it could eventually arrive as a portable game, something that could prove irresistible to die-hard fans of the franchise.

It seems likely that sales would need to be positive enough from Dark Souls Remastered to warrant any further launches for the series on Switch.

The only next-gen console that can currently run Dark Souls is the Xbox One, where it’s available to play via Backwards Compatibility.
