With the adult versions of the young characters set to appear, it wasn’t long before Jessica Chastain ended up on wish-lists to play the older Beverly.
Now, sure enough, it seems like it might actually happen.
According to Variety, negotiations are still in the very early stages and the script is not yet complete.
But it does appear likely that Chastain will be on board when filming starts later this year, if everything goes to plan.
Plus, Chastain has worked with director Andi Muschietti before; on his breakout hit Mama.
There is so far little word on the rest of the cast, although Bill Skarsgard is of course expected to return as the terrifying Pennywise the Clown.
The child stars will be back, too, although in reduced roles in flashback sequences.
Muschietti gave a rough idea of the sequel’s production timeline last year, saying: “We’ll probably have a script for the second part in January. Ideally, we would start prep in March.
“Part one is only about the kids. Part two is about these characters 30 years later as adults, with flashbacks to 1989 when they were kids.”
It broke records for its genre, but has been largely overlooked at this season’s awards shows.
