Fortnite season 3: Huge PS4 and Xbox One update bringing THIS big change

Fortnite developer Epic Games is about to release a big update for season 3.

In a move that will heavily impact close-quarters combat, Epic Games is changing the way pump shotguns work.

According to Epic Games, pump shotguns have a long reload time to balance out their high damage.

But some players have been able to bypass this by quickly switching weapons back and forth.

The release of Fortnite update 3.0.0 will fix this exploit by ensuring shotguns still have to be pumped the next time they are selected.

An Epic forum post explains more: “Many of you have shared feedback with us regarding Pump Shotguns.

“Thank you! Your input helps shape the future of Battle Royale and we greatly appreciate your comments and concerns.

“The Pump Shotgun’s high damage is balanced by its long reload time, and bypassing that weakness makes the weapon stronger than intended.”

“So, with the upcoming release of 3.0.0, we are making an adjustment to the Pump Shotgun behavior.

“If you fire the Pump Shotgun and quickly switch weapons, the next time it’s selected it will be forced to pump before firing again.”

Epic said that it could potentially tweak other weapons based on fan feedback.

“This feature will only be enabled for Pump Shotguns, but we will closely monitor other weapon types for similar concerns,” the post ends.

Fortnite Season 3 will launch later this week, following a small delay.

Fans will be able to unlock a host of new items and rewards by leveling up the new Season Battle Pass.

The Battle Pass rewards players with cosmetic loot by playing the game and completing challenges.

This will include the new Mission Specialist Outfit, as well as 30 more tiers of unlockables in Season 3 (100 total).

You can take a look at the loot in a gallery at the top of the page.
