UPDATE: Xbox One games fans getting new mod support for Cities: Skylines this week

Microsoft have now confirmed the release date for new mod support on their Xbox One and Xbox One X consoles.

Cities Skylines proved a surprise hit on PC, before being ported over to the PS4 and Xbox One.

But one of the big draws for the Steam version of the game was the mod support.

Buying DLC bundles is available to all, however, using other gamers’ content is another fun way of extending Cities Skylines long shelf-life.

Microsoft have now confirmed that mod support will be launched on the Xbox One and Xbox One X tomorrow.

“February 20, we’re finally adding that feature to the game – and several more that our players have created for Cities: Skylines – Xbox One Edition,” a message from Paradox confirms.

“We’re proud to announce the arrival of user-created mods to our favorite city-building game, available this week as free content for all players!

“If you’ve ever wanted to give your community a fancy clock tower, or put in some swimming pools, or even turn the planes at your local airport into futuristic spacecraft, your fellow Cities fans have been hard at work to let you do just that.”

Unfortunately, this won’t be the same level of mod support found on PC, but will instead see a range of mods brought over in the bundle.

This will be made available through a new update launched tomorrow on consoles.

The selection of mods that have been curated, tested, will be available to use free of charge with the new update.

In addition to the community content, Paradox also have a content pack coming soon as part of the ongoing Season Pass.

Also coming soon to Xbox One is the Content Creator Pack, a series of buildings created by community artists and modelers.

This Cities Skylines launch will be bundled with another free update arriving on March 6.

There has been no mention of the same mods support coming to PS4 and PS4 Pro players.

Sony don’t usually allow for mod support with their games, with titles such as ARK Survival Evolved and Fallout 4 the exceptions.

The most recent DLC drop for PS4 players came last year which added special “Winter” maps to the game.

These challenge mayors to keep the roads clear and the neighborhoods warm in the face of cold weather.
