President’s Day 2018: What is closed on President’s Day?

Washington’s Birthday, also known as Presidents’ Day, is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of February. 

The day honours presidents of the United States, including George Washington, the USA’s first president.

Many businesses are open as usual and many stores hold sales on Washington’s Birthday – which is known as a shopping holiday.

However, as a federal holiday many public services shut for the day.

What is closed on President’s Day?

President’s Day is what’s known as a federal or bank holiday, which means all banks, the post office, the stock exchange, many schools, and the DMV are all closed.

According to Banks.org, every national and regional bank will be closed such as Bank of America, Barclays, Chase and Wells Fargo.

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are closed to observe President’s Day.

The United States Postal Office will also be closed. However, they will reopen again on Tuesday.

According to their annual holiday schedule, FedEx will be open during standard hours.

And UPS have also announced they will be working on the national day.

According to USA Today, some  states will still get their rubbish collected today but they advised to check with your local provider about garbage pick up.

Some schools close for the whole week for a mid-winter recess.
