Pokemon Go NEWS: Community Day 2 special, Rayquaza update, New Shiny Pocket Monsters

Pokemon Go developer Niantic has shed some more light on the second Community Day event.

The next Community Day will take place on February 24 from 10am UK time until 1pm GMT.

The three hour event will focus on Dratini, and its Dragonair and Dragonite evolutions.

In fact, anybody who manages to evolve a Dragonair into Dragonite this weekend will learn a new special move.

“Great news, Trainers! If you’re lucky enough to evolve your Dragonair into Dragonite during this month’s #PokemonGOCommunityDay, your Dragonite will know a special move – Draco Meteor!” reads a Niantic tweet.

Players will also earn three times the amount of Stardust for the duration of the event, while Lures will last for all 3 hours.

If the first Community event is anything to go by, Dratini could also get a Shiny variant.

Pokemon Go developer Niantic has released multiple new Shiny Pocket Monsters to the game.

As part of the recently released Rayquaza update, Niantic has made Swablu available to capture as a Shiny.

This means that Altaria – Swablu’s evolved form – is also available as a Shiny.

Unfortunately, however, players will need to do some serious grinding, because Altaria isn’t available in the wild.

Instead, players will need to earn 400 Swablu candies in order to unlock this ultra-rare Pokemon.

Just days later, Niantic would make Luvdisc available as a Shiny, before releasing a sparkly variant of Poochyena in the Lunar event.

Pokemon Go fans are currently able to battle Legendary Pocket Monster Rayquaza.

Rayquaza will be available to battle until March 16, so there’s plenty of time to capture it.

And the good news is that the Legendary Pocket Monster is relatively easy to defeat.

Rayquaza has a low defence and is weak against Pokemon with ice moves.

Pokemon Go trainers can use Jynx to do some serious damage against Rayquaza.

Hardcore Pokemon Go fans might also want to consider the likes of Lapras, Walrein and Articuno, which all have double ice movesets.

When facing a Rayquaza with Dragon-type attacks, it’s also worth adding a Fairy-type Pokemon to your battle party.

A Gardevoir with Dazzling Gleam is preferred, but Clefable is also a useful Pokemon.
